Bobber Bay is made by RoodleSoft LLC. This page explains what the game stores and sends, why, and how you can control or remove it. If something here doesn't match what the game actually does, that's a bug in this page — tell us and we'll fix it.
The short version: Bobber Bay has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. We don't ask for your name, email, age or location. Your game progress is saved on your own device and is never uploaded. The only time the game sends anything over the internet is the optional co-op mode, and what it sends is listed below. We don't sell your data to anyone.
What the game stores on your device
The game uses your browser's local storage (the same place a website keeps its settings). It stays on your device; we never receive it, and we can't see it.
- Saved games. Up to three save slots, each with a backup copy: your progress, money, catches, gear and story goals, and the character name you chose.
- Character name. A name you type yourself with the on-screen letter picker (up to 12 letters). It is used inside the game, and in co-op it is shown to your partner. Please don't use your real name, and if you are a parent, we suggest a nickname.
- Options. Music and sound on/off, touch button size, and left-handed mode.
- A random co-op ID. A random code created the first time you try co-op, so a room can tell two players apart. It isn't tied to your name, email or device details.
To remove all of this, clear this site's data in your browser settings, or choose delete on a save slot in the game. Clearing it also deletes your saves, so it can't be undone.
Optional co-op (“Play together”)
Online co-op rooms are not yet switched on for this website, so playing here sends nothing. This section describes what co-op sends once it is available.
Co-op is the only feature that uses the network. It does nothing until you choose Play together and start or join a room. Then the game opens a live connection to the Bobber Bay game server and sends:
- the four-letter room code you start or join;
- your random co-op ID (see above) and your character name;
- your angler's position, direction and whether you are in a boat, many times a second while you play;
- the difficulty you picked for the room and the spot you are fishing (map position and zone), so your partner's screen can show it.
These messages are passed to the other player in your room. There is no chat, no voice, no photos and nothing you type apart from the character name and room code. The connection closes when you leave the room or close the game. Like any web service, the servers involved can see your IP address and standard connection details while the connection is open.
What we don't do
- No accounts, logins or sign-ups.
- No ads and no ad networks.
- No analytics, tracking pixels, crash-reporting services or other third-party scripts, in the game or on this website. The pages load everything from this site, with no external fonts or libraries.
- No cookies set by the game or this website.
- No selling or renting your data to anyone, ever.
- No in-app purchases. The in-game money is pretend and can't be bought.
Hosting
This website and the game files are served by Cloudflare. As with any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy. Asking for support by email is covered under Contact.
Children’s privacy
Bobber Bay is designed so that children can play it safely. The game has no accounts, no ads, no in-app purchases, no links out to other sites from within the game, and no third-party tracking, and we don't collect personal information from players, children or adults. We don't ask for a child's name, email address, age, photo, location or contact details. The only things a player can enter are a nickname picked from an on-screen alphabet and a four-letter room code. There is no chat, so children can't message strangers; in co-op you only meet someone who has the room code you share.
We suggest an adult sets up co-op and shares the room code only with people the child knows. If you are a parent or guardian and have a question or concern, or you believe your child has shared personal information with us, email support@roodlesoft.com and we'll look into it right away.
